Huzhou experience in biodiversity conservation

As the birthplace of the idea that "Lucian waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", Huzhou City in Zhejiang Province has always taken measures in accordance with local conditions and coordinated efforts, singing the moving melody of biodiversity conservation.

First, systematic promotion and comprehensive strengthening of top-level design. Huzhou City signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and carried out in-depth cooperation in the aspects of biodiversity conservation standards and norms, biodiversity conservation and green co-enrichment synergies. The construction of green low-carbon co-rich demonstration city has been included in the cooperation agreement of co-rich Demonstration Area jointly built by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. Huzhou City has signed the cooperation agreement with the Department of Ecology and Environment of Zhejiang Province and the Environmental Planning Institute of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. China has issued the Implementation Opinions on Financial Support for Biodiversity Conservation, and explored the construction of a green financial service system compatible with biodiversity conservation. Thanks to the favorable ecological environment, a group of "rare visitors" such as Anji's small salamander, an extremely endangered species of Chinese alligator, and the "living fossil in water" Chinese merganser duck can inhabit and reproduce in Huzhou.

Huzhou has been building a demonstration zone for international cooperation in ecological civilization, and has carried out extensive cooperation in international exchanges, training and sustainable utilization. The International Biodiversity Theme Event 2022 was successfully held in Deqing Xiazhu Lake. Huzhou Municipal Government and Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment signed a strategic cooperation agreement to select and publish the first six biodiversity experience sites in Huzhou. In December 2022, the Huzhou Theme Side Event of COP15 Zhejiang Corner Day was successfully held in Montreal, Canada. To share experience and cases of biodiversity conservation with the world.

Fourth, publicizing and guiding efforts to promote public cooperation and common insurance. Anji Yu Village green development and other three typical cases were selected as the main exhibition area of COP15. Making full use of time points such as "May 22 International Day for Biodiversity", diversified organizations carry out biodiversity themed activities and launch biodiversity Publicity Week, striving to create a good atmosphere for the common concern of the whole society and full participation in biodiversity protection, and maximize the enthusiasm and initiative of all sectors of society and the general public to participate in biodiversity protection.
